Build My Set

Six decisions. One system that works together.

The guided builder does not replace professional review, but it organizes the right questions before you buy. You can pause, save, and send us the results for review.

1. Who is the kit for?

  • Combat soldier or reservist
  • Police or security personnel
  • Local emergency response team
  • Medic
  • Licensed handgun carrier
  • Field use, work, or personal preparedness

Your choice changes the priorities—not the safety rules or authorization requirements.

2. What is the mission and environment?

Choose the duration, location, and type of use: an urban shift, open terrain, vehicle-based activity, a 24/48/72-hour stay, a medical role, or another need. Note heat, dust, rain, seated work, and whether the gear needs to be low-profile.

3. What do you already have?

Select any vest or carrier, belt, plates, helmet, holster, bag, lighting equipment, optic, and other items. Add the manufacturer, model, and size where known.

Why we ask: A good system uses what already works. It doesn’t make you buy it again.

4. Measurements, color, and dominant hand

Enter only information you know. If you’re unsure, select Measurement needed. For holsters, specify handedness, the exact handgun model, optic, and lighting equipment. For carriers, specify the plate size; don’t rely on shirt size alone.

5. Budget

There’s no test here. Your budget helps us distinguish between a basic solution that works now and layers you can add later.

6. Now or in stages?

  • Need a working base now
  • Looking for a balanced kit
  • Want to see a complete solution
  • Building in stages

Your results

Essential base

Few components, a clear role for each, and no upgrades that can wait.

Balanced kit

The base, plus comfort, accessibility, and capabilities suited to your selected use.

Complete kit

All relevant layers, including advanced options—only when fit information and justification are available.

Each result card should show:

  • Why the component is included;
  • What it connects to;
  • Whether it is required, recommended, or an upgrade;
  • Current price;
  • Known weight;
  • Color and size options;
  • Missing information or a compatibility warning.

Compatibility rules

“Fits” doesn’t necessarily mean “is suitable.” Mechanical fit, ease of use, and safe use are three separate checks. Results based on incomplete information will be marked Review required and won’t be presented as verified.

Before adding everything to your cart

Go through these four questions:

  1. Do you already own any of these items?
  2. Is every component needed for the current task?
  3. Have the size and model been verified?
  4. Is the use permitted and consistent with organizational and manufacturer instructions?

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to answer every question?

No. You can skip questions, but the results will indicate what could not be verified.

Can I use gear I already own?

Yes. That’s one of the goals of this process. Provide the model and size, or send a photo without sensitive information.

Is the price saved?

No. Price and availability are updated based on the store when you reopen the kit.

Can I build a kit for a team?

For group orders, it’s best to use the institutional purchasing process, where sizes, roles, and quantities are managed.

Does the builder confirm that the gear is safe?

No. It helps with filtering and commercial fit. Manufacturer instructions, training, applicable law, and physical inspection take precedence over the results.

How is the information saved?

A local kit can be saved in your browser. It will only be sent to the team after you explicitly choose to do so and consent to the handling of your details.

Image and alt requirements

  • A simple conceptual illustration of gear layers, with no operational instructions. Alt: Base, carrying, and supplemental layers in a gear system.
  • Result images must use current, genuine product photography only.
